In October 2004 I had two weeks work experience in an office. This was my first work experience and a vital learning curve for me. During these two weeks at Beaches Limited, where my roles within the office environment included, conversing to the public, computer skills & general office duties.
Dartford Technology College
My second work experience was in June 2006 at Dartford Technology College, where I assisted PE teachers in teaching physical education to the pupils. During this time I had to build up my confidence to work with the children, have good initiative, good communication skills, to be able to work in a team, work under pressure, and always have lots of enthusiasm. During these two weeks I also organised the whole of the School’s sports relief event, which took a lot of planning and skill and involved over 800 pupils aged from 11 to 18 years.
Home-Linking Limited
In April 2007 I spent a week with the director of Home-Linking. I was helping him develop some new ideas for his new website, and then I was able to create exactly what he wanted. During this week I improved my social skills, as I was constantly discussing with the employees about features that would be beneficial to the website. I also felt I worked well in a team, as I did a lot of planning with the director, and I generally feel that being able to work so close to someone helped me gain some good experience.
Matalan Limited
I currently have a part-time job working as a sales assistant at Matalan Ltd, some of my roles include, till operating, customer service, tidying the shop floor and working on fitting rooms. Since I have worked here I feel that I have improved my communication skills as communication is a key point to working in a team, I also feel that my customer service skills have improved greatly as satisfying the customer is key, and communication takes a huge part in that.
I competed for Dartford Harriers Athletic Club for four years. This meant training three times a week and competing in Athletic meetings. I also play badminton frequently. I love swimming and I enjoy snorkelling. I am always willing to learn new things and meet new people. In my leisure time I also enjoy Computing, web design, graphic design, photography, socialising and listening to music.
My ideal job is to be a junior web designer. The reason being is I love designing and creating websites, I have done a few websites in my leisure time, and it would be the ideal job for me. I have knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, Flash actionscript, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Sound Forge. However I am eager to learn different coding, in order to advance my skills in web design. I have a clear understanding of web 2.0, accessibility, and browser compatibility issues.
